Skip Work Early & Draw at the Botanical Garden

Our monthly trip to the Botanical Garden was attended by seasonably beautiful weather. Julie West and I found plenty to draw even though we didn't stray too far into the garden. The fountain with the blown glass balls made a good spot to set camp for the afternoon and draw.

An Hour of Landscape Sketching at Tower Grove Park

I continued my series of Sunday drawing in Tower Grove Park. Patric and I stumbled upon a celebration by the DAR. We got some people sketches, and then wandered over to the lake to see what was going on over there. An hour is a good amount of sketching on a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Sketching at the Art Museum

Judy has also set up a drawing session at the Saint Louis Art Museum. On the 25th of April we went to the Museum and although the traffic was a bit tricky due to simultaneous events going on in the park, we were able to get some good sketching in.

We ended up outside on the hill drawing the Henry Moore sculpture. The hillside was abuzz with people picnicing and flying kites. Judy, Aaron, and I showed up for this one.

Figure Drawing 101: Drawing at Chris manzo's Studio

At our Drawing and Painting Meetup hosted by Chris, Alvin talks about the difference between outline and contour. Aaron tells us about the velocity of edges and how to represent them including finding "passages" that create dimension.

Sorry about the lower resolution on this one. I think the message is still conveyed if you listen. Both Alvin and Aaron had some super observations to share and we were all grateful for both.
